About Eyelid Surgery
The eyes are a unique component of the face that deserve to be shown; however, an abundance of skin above or under the eyes can create an aging look. Elevate Medical Spa and Cosmetic Surgery in Dallas, TX, led by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Thornwell Parker, offers blepharoplasty (also known as eyelid surgery) to remove excess skin and lift the upper or lower eyelid, creating a younger and awakened facial appearance. Countless men and women undergo eyelid surgery at Elevate Medical Spa to remove puffy bulges, which helps with both functionality and facial appearance. Upper and lower eyelid surgery creates a fresh, youthful appearance and can produce subtle yet dramatic improvements.
Eyelid surgery is a cosmetic surgery that is sought out by both men and women. During your private consultation, treatment alternatives will be discussed based on the symptoms that need to be addressed. In most cases, ideal candidates are impaired by excess, hanging skin and folds above their eyes or bulging skin below bottom eyelid. These conditions can cause vision impairment which can hinder daily life. For a rejuvenated appearance, eyelid surgery may be the right procedure for you. If you have loose skin that droops on the upper eyelid, or bulges and puffiness under the eyes, blepharoplasty can correct this to give you a younger appearance.

"I got my first hydrofacial. Amazing!!!!! Life is too short to not be good to myself so I intend on making this a regular occurrence! My friend got one too and holy moly, the before and after pictures speak for themselves. Skin care to this degree was new for him but Felicia took her time to make sure he was comfortable throughout the entire process. Already looking forward to my April hydrofacial!"- R.B. / Yelp / Feb 15, 2019
"I was diagnosed with a Basal Cell Carcinoma on my shoulder and found Dr. Parker via his website. He was very thorough in answering all my concerns and questions, making me feel comfortable about the Mohs procedure. The results were better then I could have ever expected. The scar isn't even noticeable and people would never guess I ever had the Mohs procedure done!! Between Dr. Parker, the nurses and the delightful front staff, I felt very welcomed and treated just life family!"- A. / Wellness / Oct 25, 2018

During blepharoplasty, depending on the complexity of the surgery, local anesthesia or IV sedation will be given. This cosmetic procedure may be done on the upper eyelid alone, on the bottom eyelid, or a combination of both upper and lower during the same surgery.
- Upper - Upper blepharoplasty assists in diminishing the hanging of skin that droops over the eye and creates a more appealing eyelid appearance. An incision is usually made across the eyelid to trim away excess skin and fat.
- Lower - Lower eyelid surgery is performed to reduce puffy skin under the lower eyelid. Some lower eyelid surgery is more difficult when the lower eyelid is stretched out and weak. The incision is placed either inside or outside of the eyelid to allow access to remove fatty tissue, and the skin is delicately lifted to produce a smoother look. In some cases, a nonsurgical laser treatment can be applied to assist with skin tightening and discoloration, while dermal fillers can be used for added smoothness if necessary.
What to Expect
Blepharoplasty can last up to 2 hours based on whether one or both eyes are treated. After the procedure, patients should expect a few days to rest and avoid strenuous activities. Ice packs can help reduce bruising and swelling. The results from blepharoplasty can last years and although the results are long lasting, the aging process does not stop. To complement the surgical outcomes, facial rejuvenation treatments such as lasers, chemical peels, and fillers can be paired to create a glowing appearance.
