About Chin Augmentation
Mentoplasty (known as chin augmentation) is a common aesthetic treatment that recontours the chin and lower face for men and women who have a small and recessed chin, or one they believe is too prominent. Many times when a chin is recessed and sunken in, it can create an undefined profile. Both surgical and nonsurgical chin augmentation can be performed to improve the appearance of the chin, but one of the most popular is placing a silicone implant to reconstruct a stronger jawline and a more defined profile. Dallas, TX board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Thornwell Parker at Elevate Medical Spa and Cosmetic Surgery, perform several alternatives to consider for augmenting the chin. Aside from implants, which are manufactured in a number of sizes and shapes, nonsurgical procedures such as injectable fillers or Kybella® can be used to reshape the chin. For chins that are very large, genioplasty may be considered. This treatment decreases the amount of bone to reshape the chin and jaw to a more appealing size.
Mentoplasty is a procedure for both women and men. If you are displeased by the shape and appearance of your chin and dislike the weak profile it creates, this treatment can redefine the lower portion of your facial structure. It is also common for some of our patients to blend rhinoplasty with their chin augmentation treatment. This combination of facial treatments offers great opportunity for the aspects of the face to be proportionate and balanced.
"All the staff was very professional."- Anonymous / Healthgrades / Oct 12, 2017
"Love this place for Botox, dysport and IPL photofacialS. Tori is the best, she listens to what you want and explains everything and I have been very happy with the results of my treatments since my girlfriend referred her to me several months ago. The friends I have sent have also been happy with their results."- K.H. / Yelp / Sep 17, 2018
"Can't say enough about how professional and comfortable this Med Spa is in comparison to some of the other popular locations in town (which I've tried). Elevate feels less like a cattle call and more like a one on one experience. Suzanne is phenomenal for brows and facials- very kind and has your best interests at heart. I've seen Tori as well for photo facials and a few other minor treatments. Both are kind, very informed and the office is efficiently run. Avoid all the other Med spas that advertise like crazy. This place is sophisticated yet comfortable. Employees have a high attention to detail and it is very competitive when it comes to pricing."- T.S. / Yelp / Aug 28, 2018

During chin enhancement surgery, general anesthesia is used, or in some cases, another form of anesthesia such as IV sedation. An incision is made beneath the chin. Through this incision, a groove or pocket is created to secure the implant in place, which includes reducing some of the tissue, cartilage, and bone to make grooves to keep the implant in position. The implant is moved through the incision and positioned over the bone, just below the bottom lip. In some cases, the incision can also be made inside the lower lip where it meets the gumline. Both types of incisions help to hide scars. Small stitches are used to close the incisions and the bottom portion of the face will be wrapped with medical garments.
